Yesterday Katie rescued me from puppy duty and took me to 3 Porch Farm for an outing. She was hoping to get some beautiful cut flowers and we did. We piled up armloads of Icelandic poppies and ranunculus, both of us grinning from ear to ear. Katie and I both have a love of flowers, especially special ones like these. We also filled a box full of heirloom tomatoes, kale and nasturtium to plant at home. I am so excited to add some new tomato plants to my garden this year.
We walked the gardens in the rain, laughing and chatting about all the things that were blooming. Then we boxed up some barbecue to go and headed home. It was a short but very sweet visit. I drank in every bit of it — my Katie and a walk in a lovely garden is enough to fill up the dry places for a bit. Puppy duty can take a lot out of a girl. (By the way, Chris thinks I should write a book on puppy-raising and call it Pee, Poop and Pandemonium. Sounds about right.)
Thank you my Katie for a lovely morning. It took some doing to get me out of the house but you did it! What a sweet gift.
