It is one of my favorite times of day. The blue hour. According to Wikipedia “The blue hour is when the sun is a significant distance below the horizon and the residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue hue.”
I don’t how it all happens but I do know it is peaceful. It is the time in the day when our work is done, but it not yet time to retire. It is a time of reflection and rest.
In the month of February without fail, the tree frogs begin to sing during the blue hour. It is their window to begin their hope-filled trills of spring. It is not yet here, but soon? We are in the blue hour with Janey’s puppies right now. Her belly is swollen with the new life within her. They will be ready anytime now this coming week. Not yet, but soon, sweet Janey.
The blue hour is the sweet place of hope. We can rest our hands and our hearts from striving. Hope is the vehicle that will carry us from “almost” to “yes and amen”. What God has promised will come to bear all in good time.
Not yet, but soon.
Psalm 31:24 ~”Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”
Psalm 39:7 ~”“But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.”
