This is why I raise puppies. People often ask me “why do you do it if it is so hard?” There are many reasons, but this photo tells it all.
When Janey is bred we pray that God will give us healthy and beautiful puppies with sweet temperaments who will be a blessing to their families. I pray it often, the whole time they are growing and preparing to live in their new homes. In the photo above, orange collar boy ( now Junior) is meeting his family for the first time. Matt and Grace came out to visit him at six weeks. He will go home with them once he is eight weeks. He soaked up every minute of their love and kisses today.
I think about these things as I am cleaning up the pen for the bazillionth time or when I am washing puppy blankets. Dogs have a special place in our hearts and families and I believe God cares about these things. Animals have always been a part of my life. We raised miniature poodles when I was little and I loved having puppies around growing up. They add value to our lives and make life more pleasant when times are hard.
So, Matt and Grace, and all of my puppy parents, I will take good care of your babies until they are ready to be part of your families. Thank you for trusting me with your newest family member.
